PRIVACY POLICY

We value your business and thank you for your confidence in choosing Central Agencies Ltd. and Broker Canada Insurance Group Ltd. as your broker.  This privacy statement describes the practices of Central Agencies Ltd and Broker Canada Insurance Group Ltd. (collectively “we”, “us”, “our”) with respect to our collection, use, storage and disclosure of the personal information provided to us by our customers and members of the public. We respect and uphold individual rights to privacy and the protection of personal information. We know how important it is to protect your personal information and strive to make every customer experience safe and secure.

Your Consent

We will collect, use, or disclose your personal information only with your knowledge and consent, except where required or permitted by Applicable Privacy Laws. When you choose to provide us with your personal information, you consent to the use of your personal information as identified in this Statement and as may be further identified at the time of collection.

(a) Express Consent

Sometimes you will be asked to give your express consent to the collection, use or disclosure of personal information by us – for example, by being asked to check a box to indicate your consent to receive marketing communications or to the sharing of your personal information with our third party partners in the financial services or insurance industries.

(b) Implied Consent

Other times, you may provide your implied consent to the collection, use or disclosure of personal information by us when we can reasonably conclude that you have given consent by some action you have taken or an action you have decided not to take. Generally, this occurs where the purpose for the use of your personal information would be reasonably apparent to you – for example, when you provide us with your mailing address as part of your request for us to send you information on our products and services.

(c) Withdrawing Your Consent

You may withdraw your consent to the collection, use or disclosure of your information at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. However, without your consent we may not be able to continue to provide you with the products or services you requested.

If you have “opted in” or subscribed to one of our mailing lists, we will always provide you the opportunity to “opt out” or unsubscribe. For example, if you receive these emails from us, we will provide a link in the email that you can use to unsubscribe from that mailing list.

Typically, we will seek consent in advance or at the time of collection, and make reasonable efforts to ensure that you understand the purposes for which we will use or disclose personal information.  In certain circumstances, we may seek consent regarding use or disclosure after personal information has been collected, but before use, such as when we wish to use personal information already in our possession for a purpose that was not previously identified.

If you obtain insurance for a family member or other third party or otherwise provide personal information concerning a third party, including a family member, for example by naming him or her as a beneficiary, you represent that you have obtained any necessary consent to our collection, use and disclosure of his or her personal information in accordance with this Privacy Statement.

You may withdraw your consent to our collection, use and disclosure of personal information at any time, subject to contractual and legal restrictions and reasonable notice.   There may be consequences to failing to provide or withdrawing your consent, such as your inability to acquire or renew an insurance policy and/or cancellation of a policy.  Note also that in some circumstances you may not be permitted to withdraw consent to certain uses and disclosures (for example, but not limited to, maintaining reasonable business and transaction records and disclosures to Canadian and foreign government entities as required by applicable law).

We may be permitted or required under statute or regulation to collect, use or disclose personal information without your consent, for example to comply with a court order, to comply with local or federal regulations or a legally permitted inquiry by a government agency, or for debt collection purposes.
